Volunteering is a great way to serve your community, explore the medical professions and positively impact your health and well-being. Please see the following terms and requirements before applying to volunteer.
Application Requirements
- Submit an application
- Submit two reference forms from non-family members
- Submit a Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprinting (if applicable)
- Sign a Confidentiality Agreement and Acknowledgement of Insurance form
- Read the Reading Hospital Volunteer Services Handbook
- Complete a health screening with Employee Health
- A commitment of a minimum of two hours per week on the same day and time each week
The process of becoming a volunteer, from application to actual placement in a department, can take anywhere from four to six weeks depending upon circumstances.

Important Notes
- Volunteers are not involved in patients' direct medical care
- Placement in a specific department cannot be guaranteed
